Sri Pada, also known as Adam’s Peak, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic and sacred mountains, revered by multiple religions. Standing at 2,243 meters (7,359 feet), it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, especially at sunrise. The summit houses a sacred footprint, which is believed by Buddhists to be that of Lord Buddha, while Hindus, Muslims, and Christians have their own associations with the site. Climbing Sri Pada is a pilgrimage for many, with thousands of devotees trekking to the summit each year, especially during the pilgrimage season from December to April. The climb takes about 3 to 6 hours depending on your starting point, with the most popular trail being the Nallathanniya route.
