Punchi Dambadiva, also known as Rathganga Asu Maha Shrawaka Pasvisu Rajamaha Viharaya, is a unique Buddhist temple located in the Ratnapura District of Sabaragamuwa Province. Established in 1981 by Ven. Girimale Chandraloka Thera, this sacred site serves as a replica of significant Buddhist locations in India, providing Sri Lankan Buddhists with an accessible alternative to pilgrimage sites abroad. Situated approximately 40 km from Colombo, Punchi Dambadiva is nestled amidst the misty hills of the Samanala Range. The temple complex features replicas of sacred monuments such as the Bodh Gaya stupa, the Mahaparinirvana (Parinirvana) Buddha statue, and the first sermon site at Isipatana.
